Teatre Grec (Greek Theatre) is a magical place in Montjuïc Mountain, next to Sant Antoni neighborhood. It is an open-air theatre built in 1929 by the catalan architect Ramon Raventós in the style of the ancient Greek theatres as part of the 1929 Barcelona International Exhibition. It is surrounded by trees and vegetation and drugged in the stone. When you are there, in a concert or in a play, you forget the hustle and bustle of the city. You seem to be in Greece and that is magical.
Next to the theater there are beatutiful gardens, designed by Rubió i Tudurí and Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier, as well as a pavilion that was initially designed for musical concerts and today has become a restaurant.
The main us of this beautiful theatre is in summer festivals such as the Festival Grec de Barcelona. The Grec Festival of Barcelona is the main event in the city with theatre, dance, music and circus. It’s a festival with a long history and which in 2018 celebrates its fortieth-two edition.
Don’t miss visiting it!
