Is there anything better than a good plan in El Born? Of course, three plans. Here you will find suggestions to spend an amazing evening and night in one of the trendiest and most charming neighbourhoods of Barcelona. Stores, bars and restaurants is not only what you can find there. This area is full of culture and places to visit. The streets are beautiful and full of history.
Our perfect plan starts in the afternoon. The best thing to do is to walk around following your intuition and without fear to get lost in the little streets. This way you will discover the most incredible corners of the neighbourhood. A great way to start the visit is to go to the well-known Picasso museum, which is located in an outstanding street called Montcada (there used to be palaces in this street back in the XII century, and this makes it one of the most spectacular streets in El Born). Picasso museum holds a vast collection of Picasso’s oeuvre, especially his earlier works. You can’t miss the Blue and Pink period, or his study of the Meninas from Velazquez, while you enjoy being inside some of those magnificent palaces
Later…
After soaking up the art, history and culture, how about filling up your tummy? Less than ten minutes away walking down Passeig del Born you will find one of our favourites places around: Pastrami Bar. The gastronomic project of this restaurant, Rooftop Smokehouse, started from the passion of a group of friends who gathered in a rooftop of Sant Antoni to smoke food and enjoy good wine. Time, good taste and friendship have turned what had started as an adventure into a very settled restaurant in the city, becoming experts of the smoking technique. The place is small but every single detail has been taken care of. You will find the food more than delicious if you like smoked products. We highly recommend that you order a smoked food platter, so you can try everything they make. And of course, get yourself the classic pastrami sandwich.
But the evening is not over yet. The most surprising thing about this place is that you can continue your evening by going to the restaurant fridge. Yes, you read right. You open the fridge door of Pastrami Bar and you cross the doorway. Just like that. There is a secret cocktail bar called Paradiso behind the restaurant that is meant to be the perfect dessert for your dinner. With a clandestine atmosphere, this cocktail bar offers signature cocktails at a reasonable price and it takes you to a dark, tropical, elegant and sophisticated space. This is the sweet, remarkable and delicate ending you need to call it a day in El Born.
