If you are an art, ceramic, fashion or design lover, Museu del Disseny de Barcelona it’s your musem. Also known as DHUB, it is the catalan space dedicated to fine arts and design.
In 2014, the museum moved to a huge new building, popularly nicknamed “the stapler”. It is remarkably horizontal and establishes an interesting dialoghe with the Agbar Tower. Of course, there are lovers and haters of this building. The building also houses other activities and it was designed by the architect team MBM.
The new museum conserves a collection comprising more than 70,000 objects traditionally classified under the name of decorative arts or applied arts. In other words, the Design Museum conserves a triple Heritage: Historic decorative arts collections (furniture, ceramics, glassware, fabrics, clocks, wallpaper, endpapers…), Design collections (product, graphic and fashion design) and twentieth- and twenty-first century author arts (artistic ceramic, enamelwork, jewellery…).
Finally, nocturnal visitors will have the possibility of interacting with a luminous LED installation on the pavement of the square next to the building. The lights are activated through the human voice! A floor that reminds us of the TRON universe!
