Very close to Park Güell and in the upper area of Gracia, you can find a small and fantastic art gallery. This little gem is located inside an old house, like one of those that you can barely see now in Barcelona. It’s a green retreat within the city. When passing by, it’s possible to miss the gallery if you don’t know about it, since there is only a small sign at the entrance. This is exactly the charm of this space. You leave behind the outside world completely when you go in. It is a gallery that becomes a garden. An oasis in the city.
The gallery opened its doors in 1989 and its main characteristic is that it has always hosted exhibitions about architecture, design, photography and contemporary art. Four years after opening, they complemented the gallery with the reissue of historical design pieces, bringing back some furniture pieces designed by the architect Barba Corsini for the homes in Gaudí’s building La Pedrera. Later, they added new pieces to this reissue of furniture: the H2O chair, the Flamp lamp or the Autoband children’s game. In addition, they created a small and specialized publishing house in 1995.
You can check the exhibitions on their website and pay them a visit sometime. It is worth going when there is an opening, as the atmosphere is very enjoyable and the garden is very pleasant!
