If you are taking a walk through the city center or staying in one of our more central apartments, maybe you will like to eat something sweet. Here are two of our favourite sweet spots. One of them is sweet and cold, the other much hotter.
Delacream (sweet and cold)
Once you try the gelato from ice cream-parlour Delacream, you’re lost. You will be willing to stand its queues stoically for the rest of your life. Awarded by TripAdvisor as the best ice cream-parlour in Barcelona, this will be your paradise if you love ice cream. An Italian coming from Turin wanted to try his luck at making artisanal gelato in Barcelona. Luck smiled on him, but even more on us. They offer seasonal gelatos, both in summer or winter, prepared with seasonal fruits from local farmers, that come in unimagined, bold and classic flavours. The peach is spectacular, the strawberry from Maresme has real strawberry taste, and the coconut from Magadascar is just delicious. There’s even basil sorbet for the daring ones. In little time Delacream has become the cold hot spot for those who love sweet and cold in the Eixample in Barcelona.
Granja Viader
For those who are looking for a classic place with a lot of history behind, don’t miss Granja Viader. In the very centre of the city and right next to Las Ramblas, you’ll find a place founded in 1870 that has been owned by the same family for five generations. What started as a dairy back then has now become a must for those who love hot chocolate and sponge fingers. Cacaolat, the typical chocolate drink that all Catalan kids and adults have had in their lives, it’s said to have been invented here. And apparently the same exact marble tables that you can see there now, important people like Pablo Picasso have sat down at to have a hot chocolate.
