Either if you’re staying in the neighbourhood of Gracia or if you’re planning to visit the Park Güell in the morning, you are lucky to have a place where you can get marvellous breakfast. Located near Plaça Lesseps, on Torrent De l’Olla street, this small shop called Lukumás (doughnut in Greek) is a heaven for lovers of these rounded sweets.
They are not just any doughnuts. The dough is perfect, fluffy as it should be. They are as pretty as they are delicious. And freshly made. Freshly made with love. They bake doughnuts every morning and these last until their fans eat them out of stock. The owner came from Greece to open his own business, carrying the knowledge inherited from his parents in his native country.
These doughnuts come in many different flavours. The classics ones are very good. The variety of fillings is great (chocolate, cream, strawberry jam, coffee, just to name a few). You can get doughnuts with a hole and without a hole, glazed, with toppings… They are all equally good. For those who prefer the savoury world, they also make bagels, same way, different flavour and texture and varied fillings.
Although they don’t have much room to taste them in the store, they make very good coffee. Needless to say it is fair-trade coffee and the milk they use is organic. This is a good place to sit down and recharge your batteries to continue visiting Barcelona!
